Stelara is an infusion (given one time at the start of your therapy), followed by injections you receive at home. This is a biologic treatment used for treatment of Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis. It is in the class of medications known as interleukin-23 antagonists (IL-23 inhibitor).
Skyrizi is an infusion (given one time at the start of your therapy), followed by injections you receive at home. This is a biologic treatment used for treatment of moderate to severe Crohn’s disease. It is in the class of medications known as interleukin-23 antagonists (IL-23 inhibitor).
Remicade is a medication given by intravenous. This medication is classified as a biologic therapy, and is used to induce and maintain remission of Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). It can also help heal certain fistulas. Remicade is a protein that recognizes, attaches to and blocks the actions of TNFa (tumor necrosis factor-alpha) to reduce inflammation.
Cimzia (Certolizumab) is an injectable medication used to treat moderate to severe Crohn’s disease. Similar to Infliximab, Cimzia belongs to a class of drugs known as biologics. Cimzia is used to induce and maintain clinical remission in Crohn’s disease.
Entyvio (Vedolizumab) is an intravenous infusion used to treat moderate to severe Ulcerative Colitis (UC) and Crohn’s Disease. Entyvio may help by reducing symptoms, induce and or maintain remission. Though also considered a biologic therapy, Entyvio is not an anti-TNF therapy and offers a different set of risks and benefits. Please discuss with your treatment team if Entyvio is an option for you.
This medication is given by injection into a vein to help raise your iron levels from iron deficiency anemia. Iron deficiency anemia is common in patients with inflammatory bowel disease as your body has a diminished ability to absorb iron due to chronic inflammation. It is usually given slowly and mixed with normal saline over 30 minutes, as prescribed by your physician.
